What “smart” means here
Required-participant conflicts are never called clean. Ranking minimizes the worst individual inconvenience before optimizing the group total, respects buffers and day-part preferences, understands whether someone wants meetings clustered or separated, and avoids showing six nearly identical times. Every preference is visible and every suggestion has a reason—there is no opaque AI decision.
Why invitees do not need accounts
A meeting needs a durable owner because someone controls invitations, connections, holds, and confirmation. A response does not. Requiring every external colleague to register would add friction without improving the meeting. Their unguessable invitation link is the narrow permission to answer; if they sign in with the invited address, they can claim that participation.
